Martin Whelan takes over the role from Bob Jordan with a wealth of experience in the sector.
After spending close to a decade in the Construction Federation of Ireland the Abbeyleix man had spells with NAMA as a Senior Divisional Director and was the Deputy Director at the National Treasury Management Agency.
Mr Whelan says the Housing Minister James Browne is putting the right policies in place to solve the housing crisis, but people will need to be patient:
