LISTEN: Menopause Treatment Effective For Women With Long Covid

A midlands doctor says there are similarities between the symptoms.

Treatment for menopause is being used to help women suffering from Long Covid.

Almost 4,000 people in Ireland are currently out of work and receiving the disability payment due to the Long Covid - although the true number of those affected is believed to be much higher.

There is no treatment for the long-lasting effects of the virus, according to Athlone GP Deirdre Forde.

But given the symptoms - such as brain fog, sweating and anxiety - are so similar to menopause, she says HRT treatment has been effective in some cases.
