Athlone's Rhys Mannion will assume the role.
A Midlands actor is about to take on the role of John Lennon in a forthcoming BBC series about the fab four.
Athlone's Rhys Mannion will play the man who penned Help, A Hard Day's Night, and Come Together.
The six-part drama called 'Hamburg Days' is set in the 1960s in Germany, where the Liverpool band collide with two young artists who help them on their way to becoming The Beatles.
Mannion has previously appeared in feature film 'It Is In Us All' and BBC series Titanic Sinks Tonight.
The former Athlone Community College student has music experience of his own, playing in indie band Happy Daze.
