Midlands Pubs Going For Gold At Bar Of The Year Awards

600 submissions were made this year.

Four midlands bars are looking to take home the gold at the Bar of the Year Awards.

600 submissions were made for this year's event, which takes place at the Clayton Hotel in Dublin on the 21st of August.

Gertie Brownes Bar and Bistro in Athlone has been nominated for three awards - Tourist Bar, Bar Food and Gastro Bar.

Peadars Bar in Moate is in the running in two categories - Local Bar and Best Value Pub.

The Wineport Lodge in Athlone will be hoping to take home Hotel Bar of the Year, while Fisherman's Thatched Inn in Ballybrittas has been nominated for Outside Space.
