The Food Safety Authority ordered ten companies to shut their doors last month, including a food business operating from a barber shop with no facilities for maintaining hygiene and protecting the food.
Other issues identified include a live cockroach infestation in a kitchen, a dead rat in an open drain in a food store, frozen fish stored in a broken freezer, and rat droppings in a tub of hot chocolate powder.
The businesses are located in Dublin, Louth, Laois, and Meath.
