The man was stopped on his bike by gardaí in November last year.
A Midlands man says he was on his way to say prayers in church after being caught with viagra and sedative pills, and €1,500.
62 year old Liam McHugh with an address at Taughmaconnell, Ballinasloe, Galway, was stopped by Gardaí at Connaught Street, Athlone, in Westmeath when cycling to Athlone's Friary Church on November 7th last year.
The Ballinasloe man, who pleaded guilty to the drug possession charge, has nine previous convictions to his name.
Judge Bernadette Owens directed €700 to be paid to Athlone Drug Awareness with the balance of the monies being returned to Mr McHugh.
