Midlands Councillor Announces His Retirement

He will step down after the local authority's monthly meeting next month.

A Laois councillor has announced he will retire in January.

Portlaoise Labour rep Noel Tuohy will step down after the local authority's monthly meeting next month, citing health reasons for the decision.

Councillor Touhy has undergone brain surgery in the past, and will return to London for treatment in the new year and says he feels he can no longer commit 100% to the role.

His replacement will be decided internally be the Labour party, will be in place for Laois County Council's February meeting.
