Housing Body Lambasted For Letting Out "Rat-Infested" Home In Laois

The family that moved had been on the housing list for eight years.

An approved housing body is being branded a disgrace after letting out a rat-infested home in Laois.

A local family, that had been on the council's housing waiting list for eight years, was recently nominated to move into the house in Portlaoise.

However, Sinn Féin's Caroline Dwane Stanley says the property was rat-infested and dirty, with broken sockets and windows.

Councillor Dwane Stanley says she got in touch with the housing body, but it denies the home is in such a condition.
