Deirdre Ferman and her husband John are finding the costs around their cancer treatment are getting higher and higher.

A midlands couple, who are both undergoing cancer treatment, is highlighting the heavy financial toll having cancer brings. 

Offaly's Deirdre Ferman and her husband John travel regularly to Galway and Dublin for their treatment and one trip last week to St. James' Hospital cost them almost €80 - for fuel, tolls and parking. 

The Birr mum cried the whole way home from Dublin when the hospital refused to accept her disability badge and she had to pay for parking. 

She says it was the straw that broke the camel's back:
