Midlands Director Lands Nomination For Independent Film

A lot of the filming also took place in the region.

An Independent Irish film from a midlands director has been nominated for an award at this year's Austin Film Festival.

'The Highest Brasil' will also premier at the festival, where it is up for the Jury Award for Narrative Feature.

Much of the filming took place in the midlands, including in Abbeyleix, Portlaoise and Rathdowney. 

Director of the film, Jeremy Curl of Abbeyleix says certain scenes are cinematic firsts for Irish cinema:
