Patients are asked to consider their options.
Two midlands emergency departments are extremely busy today.
The Midlands Regional Hospital Mullingar is advising people who are planning on attending the Adult and Paediatric EDs that they should consider their options as those who are not triaged as seriously ill may experience long waiting lists.
However, patients who require urgent care will be prioritised.
Management would like to thank the public for their support and understanding during this period.
They are also reminding the public that, patients who are over 16 years with the following injuries may wish to present to the Regional Hospital Mullingar Minor Injury Unit located at Charter Medical Private Hospital in Ballinderry, Mullingar:
o Suspected broken bones to arm (from collar bone to fingertip)
o Suspected broken bones in legs (from knees to toes)
o Sprains and strains
o Wounds, bites (animal or insect) cuts, grazes and scalp laceration
o Minor burns and scalds
o Foreign bodies
o Minor chest injuries
