Flooding has taken hold on the Shannon Callows.

Midlands farmers say inaction from the ESB and local politicians is destroying livelihoods along the river Shannon.

Flooding has taken hold on the Shannon Callows with farmers currently working urgently to rescue stranded livestock.

Michael Silke is the chairperson of the Save Our Shannon Organisation.

He says the ESB have been contacted multiple times over the last two days to manage the water levels coming down from Athlone.

He says they're ignoring their calls for help:
