Midlands Flood Defence System Due For 2029

Portarlington has experienced flooding issues for a number of years.

It's expected a new flood relief scheme for a midlands town will be complete by 2029.

The multi-million euro investment will target years of issues along Botley Lane and Patrick Street in Portarlington.

The town feels the effects of heavy rainfall every year, when the River Barrow floods - something Councillor Eddie Fitzpatrick says has been going on for generations.
