A number of checkpoints were set up in advance of the Bank Holiday Weekend.

Gardaí in the midlands say the weekend was largely a success, with widespread compliance to the covid-19 restrictions.

The authorities had been warning people in advance of the Easter Bank Holiday Weekend, not to be tempted to leave their homes.

A number of checkpoints had been set up to ensure motorists were only travelling for essential reasons.
