Both have been remanded on bail until October 14th.
Two Gardaí based in the midlands have been sent forward for trial on corruption-related charges.
42 year old Garda Brian Carroll of Ballinboy, Kilteevan, Roscommon, was charged with disclosing confidential information, while knowing it was likely to have a harmful effect, on September 9th 2021at Esquires Coffee, N4 Axis Centre in Longford.
47 year old Sergeant James Muldowney from Greenville, Caltra, Ballinasloe in Galway is facing charges relating to allegations of the theft of a sum of cash and an attempt to obstruct justice.
The alleged theft took place at a property in Longford on September 29th 2021.
While the obstruction charge details allegations the Sergeant used harm, or threatening, menacing, intimidating behaviour, or putting fear in another person to obstruct the course of justice.
Garda Carroll's defence barrister Niall Flynn said his client has professed his innocence from the outset, while defence for Sergeant Muldowney requested he be excused on the return date if the book of evidence wasn't ready at that time.
Both have been remanded on bail until October 14th at before a sitting of Longford District Court.
