Offaly's nomination features the renowned telescope at Birr Castle Demesne.
A Midlands UNESCO-listed heritage site can now seek extra State funding.
The opportunity comes under the Government’s World Heritage Strategic Investment Fund, which offers capital grants to support conservation.
In Offaly, the nomination includes the telescope at Birr Castle Demesne, part of the Historic Astronomical Observatories of Ireland bid.
The funding boost is intended to strengthen Ireland’s case for full UNESCO World Heritage status while benefiting local communities and tourism, with €350,000 available.
