Midlands Homelessness Figures Drop By 7

Nationally, figures have exceeded 10,000 for the first time in over 2 years.

83 people are homeless in the midlands.

There are 41 people are without permanent accommodation in Westmeath and 27 in Offaly.

Laois has the lowest number of people who are homeless in the midlands with 15.

Regionally, this is a reduction of 7 on last month's figures.

Nationally, the number of people in homeless accommodation has gone above 10,000 for the first time since February 2020.

According to figures from the Department of Housing for April, there were 10,049 in hotels and B&Bs - up 2 per cent from March's total.

It includes 2,944 children.

The total from the Government doesn't include Ukrainian refugees in pledged accommodation, Direct Provision, women in refuge centres or rough sleepers.
