The local authority will adjust the county development plan for the 20 bed facility,
A motion for planning permission for a long awaited Midlands Hospice has been passed by Offaly County Council.
The application to build the 20 bed palliative care facility received the majority of votes needed during the December meeting of the local authority.
The proposed development at Arden Lane, Tullamore represents a material departure from the Offaly County Development Plan.
The project location was the subject of prolonged debate, with many campaigners advocating for development at the Wellwood Health Campus in Tullamore, with the HSE selecting the Arden Lane site.
