Midlands Hospital Apologises Over ED Delays

Patients faced extensive delays in Mullingar last week.

A Midlands hospital is apologising for delays in its Emergency Department after reports of patients walking out of the facility without being seen.

The Midlands Regional Hospital in Mullingar says it's seeing a "sustained increase" in people attending its ED, particularly with patients aged 75 and over with complex care needs.

On Wednesday, 127 adults attended the hospital's Emergency Department, the second highest number this month.

It was also the busiest day for patients over 75 since March.
