Portiuncula University Hospital has announced visiting restrictions today.
High levels of COVID-19 and flu on St John’s Ward have led to visits to the ward being restricted to those who have approval to attend on compassionate grounds.
The measure takes immediate effect and will be reviewed on an ongoing basis over the next seven days.
People are asked to contact the ward manager in advance in order to arrange a visit.
Meanwhile, management at a Mullingar Regional Hospital is advising patients its emergency department is busy today.
The facility is in escalation and staff are working to manage capacity.
Patients are being asked to consider their option before attending the ED.
