Midlands Housing Commencements Slowed Down In January

The latest figures come from the Department of Housing.

Midlands housing commencements in January are significantly down on the same time last year.

The latest figures from the Department of Housing show that construction on just 68 homes began in the region last month.

That's 49% less than the same period last year.

Commencements are up in Laois, from 47 in January of 2024, to 55 this year.

The number dropped from 12 to 6 in Offaly, while Westmeath saw the greatest slowdown with just seven commencements this year compared to 74 last year.
