Schools in Laois, Offaly, and Westmeath will
32 new special classes are due to be introduced in the midlands for the new school year.
Each class will have space for six pupils, one teacher and one special needs assistant.
There will be 10 in Westmeath, 10 in Offaly, and 12 in Laois.
Minister for Education, Norma Foley has announced 375 new special classes will be in place for September.
This will bring the total number of special classes in the country to over 3,000 providing for more than 20,000 students.
