Midlands Man Wins IFA Presidency

He won by 10%.

A midlands man has been elected as President of the Irish Farmers' Association.

Ballinakill's Francie Gorman overcame Limerick's Martin Stapleton by 55% to 45% from just under 30,000.

The beef and sheep farmer served as South Leinster chair, and served as county chair in Laois and on the IFA's Livestock committee.

Mr Gorman will serve a two year term as the association's President before he'll have to seek re-election.
