Midlands March Held To Highlight Lack Of School Places For Children With Autism

Parents in Athlone say it's unfair their children get an education locally.

A large group took to the streets of the midlands at the weekend to raise awareness about the lack of school places for children with autism. 

Autism Parents Athlone held the march as many of their children have to travel to surrounding counties for their education - while their siblings attend local schools. 

While the group is welcoming the news a new additional needs class is being opened in Athlone Community College in September, they say they need more classes as it will only accommodate six students.
