Ciaran Mullooly wants a clearer timeline from the European Commissioner for Agriculture and Food on the removal of a rule that simply markets the product as "Origin:Non-EU".
He's also asking for improved traceability throughout the food chain.
MEP Mullooly says he's confident it will become EU law, when it comes before Parliament at the start of September:
