Midlands MEP Calls For Clearer Labels On Non-EU Imported Beef

Ciaran Mullooly wants to see greater transparency across the food supply chain.

A Midlands MEP is pushing for clearer labeling on beef imported from outside the European Union.

Ciaran Mullooly wants a clearer timeline from the European Commissioner for Agriculture and Food on the removal of a rule that simply markets the product as "Origin:Non-EU".

He's also asking for improved traceability throughout the food chain.

MEP Mullooly says he's confident it will become EU law, when it comes before Parliament at the start of September:
