Midlands MEP Encouraged By Growing Opposition To CAP Cuts

Barry Cowen is proposing a re-working of other funding streams to mitigate against the cuts.

Barry Cowen believes there's a groundswell of support in Brussels against proposed cuts to the Common Agricultural Policy.

A draft CAP budget would reduce the overall fund for farmers by 20% post 2027.

The Offaly man says this is unacceptable, and wants to re-purpose €93bn in other funding streams to make up the shortfall.

EU Parliament will vote this week on ringfencing €433bn for the CAP, and MEP Cowen says that it's a start:
