Midlands MEP Makes Return to Saddle for Charity

Nina Carberry will take part in the annual event honouring the late Offaly jockey Pat Smullen.

Former champion jockey and Midlands MEP Nina Carberry is making a return to the saddle for a charity race.

The annual event honours the legacy of nine-time Irish champion flat jockey, Offaly's Pat Smullen, who became an advocate for cancer research after his pancreatic cancer diagnosis.

Before his death, he alongside his family and racing community raised over €2.6 million for pancreatic cancer research, creating a lasting legacy through the race day.

The Pat Smullen Charity Race is taking place at the Curragh on Saturday, 29 August, in aid of Cancer Trials Ireland.

MEP Carberry says she is delighted to be saddling up again:
