A Midlands MEP says a taskforce is needed to progress a €5bn masterplan for a Midlands town.
Ciaran Mullooly met with Members of the European Parliament's housing committee and the Ballymore Group yesterday to discuss Athlone's Green City plan.
He believes the taskforce is key for the government to progress the initiative and will help the local authorities in its delivery.
The Technological University of the Shannon is also central to the project with plans to bring its students number up to 20 thousand.
