Midlands Records Over 100 Homeless Children In April

Overall 333 adults and children accessed emergency accommodation last month.

Over 300 adults and children are using emergency accommodation in the Midlands, according to the latest figures from the Department of Housing.

The figure of 333 people in the region presenting as homeless has stayed largely the same over the course of the last three months.

In April, there were 78 in Offaly, 63 in Westmeath, 59 in Laois, and 23 in Longford.

Last month, 110 children required the use of emergency accommodation.

Nationally, the number of people in homelessness reached 17,548 - up 31 compared to March, and another new record.
