The vast majority of the homes are being built in Laois.
Construction started on over 100 midlands homes last month.
New figures from the Department of Housing show Laois had the highest number of commencement notices issued in the region in November, at 76.
That's followed by 29 in Westmeath, and 10 in Offaly.
The figures are a significant increase on October, when development began on just 41 residential units.
Nationally, over 3,000 commencement notices were issued last month, bringing the total in the year to November to just under 30 thousand.
That's already more than the figure for entirety of 2022, when the figure was nearly 27 thousand.
