A midlands senator believes an independent position should be created to deal with complaints made against the HSE.

Micheál Carrigy is calling for a new role, called the Ombudsman for Health, following a meeting between the Joint Oireachtas Committee on Autism, teachers and Fórsa.

He says the lack of consequences for complaints made against the health service is preventing children from getting the help they need.

The Fine Gael senator says the typical answer of 'we're doing our best,' isn't good enough anymore:
