Midlands Senator Calls For Further Support For Arts Community

Michael Carrigy is in favour of a living wage for artists.

A Midlands senator says more must be done to support the arts community. 

Senator Micheal Carrigy has been meeting with artists, musicians and performers who are concerned they won't have a future in the creative arena. 

The Longford-Westmeath rep supports the arts minister' suggestion of a living wage for artists and it has worked in other countries. 

The Seanad arts spokesman insists that if we want to have a vibrant arts community in the future, we must support artists now.
