The legislation is to support people on the autism spectrum and their families.

New legislation on supports and a strategy for people with autism has been introduced in the Seanad this week.

Midlands Senator Micheál Carrigy, the former chair of the Oireachtas Committee on Autism, presented the Autism Action and Oversight Bill 2024.

The aim is to establish a long term framework for people on the autism spectrum and their families.
