Midlands TD Raises Questions Over 70K Tonnes Of Beef Imports

Over 50,000 tonnes were imported last year.

The Agriculture Minister is being questioned on why almost 70,000 tonnes of beef have been imported into Ireland since the start of 2022.

54,000 tonnes of beef were imported last year, with a further 14,000 tonnes already this year, according to figures from the CSO.

Laois Offaly Independent TD Carol Nolan says she's concerned by how high these figures are, when Irish farmers are routinely told demand is low or fluctuating.
