Midlands TD Reiterates Call For More Community Gardaí

The number has dropped from 44 to 14 in Laois/Offaly.

A midlands TD thinks a doubling in the number of community guards in Laois-Offaly isn't enough. 

The figure has increased from 7 to 14, with recent budget allocations. 

It's still below 2009 levels, when there were 44, according to independent deputy Carol Nolan. 

She says burglaries may be down throughout lockdown, but there is still ongoing crime:
