A midlands TD says it's a national scandal that covid-19 tests are not being carried out in all residential settings.
Nine people from the Maryborough Centre of Psychiatry for Old Age died last weekend, eight of whom had tested positive for the coronavirus.
The remaining 17 residents are now being treated as covid-19 positive but haven't been tested, according to Fianna Fáil's Seán Fleming.
He says the HSE has been working well to combat the pandemic but feels its policy on testing is the weak link and needs to be changed immediately:
