Midlands TD Wants Publication Of Report On RTE

The second Grant Thornton report is being examined by the RTE board.

The Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee is calling for the publication of a report examining the understatement of Ryan Tubridy’s published fees by €120,000.

The Board of RTE is examining in detail a second Grant Thornton report into the broadcasters published fees from 2017 to 2019.

Its not clear when the report will be published

Laois Offaly TD and Sinn Fein's Brian Stanley said prompt action is now required by RTE:

Responsibility rests with RTÉ to restore public confidence following the recent payments scandal.

That's the view of the Public Expenditure Minister who says solutions can't lie solely with the Government.

Revenue from TV licence fees for the first week of August compared to the same time last year dropped by €900,000.

Minister Paschal Donohoe says while still a legal requirement, imprisonment for not paying would be a last resort:
