The Fianna Fáil Deputy compared extending the eviction ban to “making sweets free for children.”
Fianna Fáil TD Barry Cowen says his children have been subjected to online abuse following comments he made in the Dáil.
Deputy Cowen this week used the analogy that extending the eviction ban was like "making sweets free for children."
Speaking to the Business Post, he said he can "cope" with abuse targetted at him, but draws the line when "children or family members are targetted."
He added that abuse "only serves to drive people away from public service."
