A pool cue and football jersey were among the gifts offered at the funeral mass of Peter Byrne, who died in a swimming accident in Carlow last week.
The 17-year-old was swimming with his friends when he got into difficulty in the River Barrow.
His funeral mass is taking place at the Cathedral in Carlow Town this morning.
