The Six TUs in Ireland will get €50m in January to help 'embed' in their respective regions.
A midlands University will be getting a major funding boost in the new year.
The Technological University of the Shannon will be receiving a total of €9.5m under a new 'Technological Sector Advancement Fund'.
Replacing the 'Technological Sector Transformation Fund' the Department of Higher Education is allocating €50m nationally to six different institutions.
The grants are intendent to move the technological universities past their 'establishment phase', and to embed the TUs in the regions they serve.
