The Laois village has been without a GP for nearly two months.

A midlands village is on the search for a GP, following the opening of a new pharmacy.

Ballylinan in Laois, has a population of around 1,300, and has been without a general practitioner for nearly two months.

The HSE is set to fill the role, but for only eight hours per week, spread throughout the course of two days.

Ballylinan Community Council is running a petition, which it will then bring to the Health Service.

Its President, Anna May McHugh, says people in the village are forced to travel for a GP:
