Midlands Village Will Continue To Have GP Service, Says Minister

Local residents have been raising concerns.

A Government Junior Minister has given an assurance a midlands village will continue to have a GP.

Residents in Coole in Westmeath have been raising concerns over fears the local surgery will close.

Junior European Affairs Minister and Longford Westmeath TD Peter Burke says it's not uncommon for GPs to change hands over time and the Health Service will advertise the post.

Deputy Burke says the HSE will ensure a continuation of the service, and provide cover where it's needed:
