The €20m facility was originally intended to be located by the Hospital campus in Tullamore.
A new hospice planned for Offaly will no longer be built near the Midlands Regional Hospital campus in Tullamore.
The 20 bed facility is now expected to be located at a site either on Arden Lane, or on the Wellwood Health Campus.
Health Minister Stephen Donnelly and Laois Offaly TD Barry Cowen are in Tullamore to visit both locations today.
Minister Donnelly says he's happy with what he saw, and wants a decision arrived at as soon as possible:
