The Friends of Mullingar hospital are warning that more fundraising is required to cover the cost of a new MRI machine.
Over €950,000 has been raised in the last three years - but board member John McGrath says the final contribution could be closer €1m.
The Government has allocated €3.5m for the delivery of the scanner - which could take at least two years.
