Additional resources are needed to help clear the backlog of grant applications for housing aid for the elderly and those living with disabilities and mobility issues in Westmeath.

That's the call from local councillor Paul Hogan, as there is currently a significant backlog of priority three applicants, who fall into the category of older people but not a medical emergency.

Funding for the housing grants increased this year in Westmeath by 25% to 2m.
