The teenager was due undergo an operation yesterday.

A mother of a teenager who had scoliosis surgery cancelled at the last minute, says she was shocked and sickened when it happened.

Catriona Ward's son Eoin had had been waiting two years for the procedure and was due undergo an operation yesterday in Temple Street.

However, despite being prepared for the operation, it was decided it couldn't go ahead as the ICU unit was one nurse short.

The Clonard mum says the surgeon explained why the decision was made:
