Gardaí in Westmeath caught a motorist speeding at 187 kilometres an hour on a motorway in the county over the past week.
The motorist was detected speeding on the M6 as checkpoints were being carried out.
Westmeath Roads Policing Unit arrested the driver for dangerous driving and was later charged and released on bail.
The driver is due to appear before a District Court at a later date.
