Multi-Million Euro Midlands Library Seeing 1,000 Customers Per Day

The facility opened last month.

Over 1,000 people are using the new County Library in Laois every day.

The long-awaited facility in Portlaoise opened last month and cost over €7 million to build and fit out.

The initial projected cost back in 2012 was much lower, at €2.5 million, which made it the subject of scrutiny throughout the years.

But CEO of Laois County Council John Mulholland says it's an asset that is now worth €11 million to the local authority.
