National Cyber Security Centre Warn Of CCTV Security Risk

New analysis is showing almost 5,000 cameras could be vulnerable to hacking.

Internet-connected CCTV cameras are being described as a potential security risk for Irish organisations after a warning about cyber espionage linked to Russia.

New analysis suggests almost 5,000 cameras in Ireland could be vulnerable to hacking, allowing criminals or hostile states to monitor sensitive sites or use the devices to launch wider cyber attacks.

The National Cyber Security Centre says any device connected to the internet can be exploited if it's not properly secured.

Security and defense analyst, Mullingar's Declan Power says, Ireland can't be seen as a weak link, in the year of its EU Presidency.
