The competition has been a staple of the Ploughing for decades.
Midlands bakers are in with a chance of winning big prizes once again at the National Ploughing Championships.
The Ploughing Championship organisers have released details for their Brown Bread Baking Competition.
The annual baking competition is one of the highlights of the massive agri event, which is returning to Screggan in Tullamore this year.
Successful entrants will be contacted on August 11th and invited to attend The National Ploughing Championships Brown Bread Baking Tent.
The winning brown bread baker will walk away with a cash prize of €5,000 and a NEFF Slide & Hide oven.
National Ploughing Championship Managing Director Anna May McHugh says the competition always has a great turnout:
All entrants (one entry per person) are being asked to drop their freshly baked bread to one of the stores below on the prescribed dates between 09.00am – 11.00am.
Bread will not be accepted outside of these times.
Five bakers will be invited to join the three finalists from the ICA who will be chosen at the national event in ICA HQ on July 21st.
Two semi-finals of four bakers will take place on 16th and 17th September at the National Ploughing Championships with the final four bakers taking to the baking stage on September 18th at noon.
